The shadow through its mystery, conventionality as well as the transience, constituted the inspiration for actions over the centuries in different fields of the human scientific and artistic activity. Thus, the shadow theatre along with the art of depiction, were inseparably connected and traced their origins from the discussed creative stimulus. Over the centuries, both artistic trends have been continuously transformed developing the diversity of means of expression and extensive potential realization. The above changes influenced the birth of new fields of art such as photography and following a time, cinematography. The Shadow Lab workshop will introduce participants into the genesis and possibilities of the expression in the shadow theatre.
