SENTIERI D’INNOVAZIONE (Paths of innovation)
Emergent Talents and tradition in International Puppet Theatre
Forum with John McCormick (Ireland), Yasuko Senda (Japan), Stephanie Rinke (Germany), Jean-Paul Perez (France, Frederic Maurin (France) and Roberto Piaggio, Alessandra Belledi, Roberta Colombo, Donatella Pau, Silvio Oggioni, Damiano Privitera, Alfonso Cipolla, in collaboration with Istituto per i Beni Marionettistici e il Teatro Popolare and UNIMA Italia.
Tradition and innovation are highly subjective words. How, in relation to this, do we identify and evaluate an emerging talent? Our discussion might start from two perspectives. For the first, artists might speak of what they perceive as one of the most significant moments in their own artistic development, whilst critics might reflect on what for them have been productions that seem to have changed the course of work in puppet theatre. The second perspective would be to comment on a production by a young company seen during the past three years that has been striking for its originality and artistry.
Started two years ago, Incanti's forum on the future of Puppet Theatre continues also this year with exceptional contributions and diversified approaches, and will be chaired by John McCormick.
